6 Celebrities Who Have Stormed Out Mid-Interview

God, we love awkward celebrity interviews. This week, Robert De Niro has made sure his new movie has snatched up all the headlines – but not necessarily for all the right reasons. The American legend made like a Raging Bull when a Radio Times journalist dared to ask him a question about how he avoids falling into ‘autopilot’ mode on set. “I’m not doing it, darling,” he said as he headed out the door in search of a comfy armchair and a cup of tea.

Other Awkward Celebrity Interviews

But he’s far from the first celeb to refuse to answer questions. And, if we’re honest, they’re the best kind of interviews. After all, it’s all well and good hearing about their acting inspiration, but when the professional facade slips and their real personalities shine through, that’s when things get really interesting.

So, grab some popcorn, take a seat, and indulge in these cringe-worthy videos of other awkward celebrity interviews:

Robert Downey Jr

Channel 4 presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy has a bit of a reputation for pissing people off during interviews. And no-one was more pissed off than Robert Downey Jr when the presenter brought up his drug-taking past. As Krishnan stumbled over his words trying to question the actor, Downey Jr said, “I’m sorry, I really don’t…what are we doing?” Don’t mess with Hollywood’s bad boy, Krishnan.

Naomi Campbell

Seriously guys, you should know better than to try rile Naomi Campbell of all people.

When the model was challenged by ABC News about receiving blood diamonds from dictator Charles Taylor, she was the picture of innocence, politely declining to answer. Oh, until she then got up and knocked the camera over.

Preston

Remember Preston? From the Ordinary Boys? He appeared on Celeb Big Brother and got hitched to Chantelle Houghton, the Essex orange? Nope, don’t blame you. It’s a bit wrong for us to really use him in a list on awkward celebrity interviews. We’re sorry.

However, his walk-out on Never Mind the Buzzcocks is probably the show’s best ever moment; especially because Simon Amstell just doesn’t give in and continues taking the piss out of his then-wife’s autobiography. Legendary.

Justin Bieber

Oh man. As far as awkward celebrities interviews go, this one takes the top prize.

A Mojo Radio journalist asks Justin Bieber whether he’s worried about Harry Styles making a move on his own mother – to which the troubled singer replies with typical ‘I’m-a-massive-douchebag’ swagger, “You should worry about me and your mum.”

And that’s when the journalist drops the clanger: “My mum’s dead.”

Cue Justin Bieber hanging up and refusing to continue the interview. Awks.

Christine O’Donnell

Not gonna lie – no idea who this person is. (Googled her: she’s a former Republican party candidate). This interview is just brimming with tension, and then it gets even more awkward because Christine and Piers are being way too polite to really do anything about it.

Oh, and then you’ve got Quentin Tarantino

Yeah, Krishnan Guru-Murthy really loves to piss people off. But this time the interviewer picked the wrong person to mess with.

When Quentin Tarantino was asked about the violence in his movies, the director goes on a massive rant, leading to the epic quote, “I’m shutting your butt down.” The way Tarantino puts Guru-Murthy down is absolutely brutal. Note to self: don’t get into a verbal fight with Tarantino.
