When we heard that America recently celebrated National Sandwich Day, we were extremely jealous. Sure, here in the UK we have National Cream Tea Day (which is as incredible as it sounds). But we do enjoy a good sandwich. We’re not talking about the kind of sandwich you take with you to work in your lunchbox. We’re talking the kind that fuses together artisanal bread with the weirdest flavour combos. (No, not Subway.) So, in honour of everyone’s complete adoration of sandwiches, we thought we’d do an Adam Richman and head off to investigate sandwiches. But instead of looking at America’s greatest sandwich products, for now we’re going to draw on our love of New York and focus on sandwiches found in The Big Apple.
So, just where can we find the best sandwiches in New York? And how soon can we get there? Let us know your own favourite sandwich concoctions over on our Facebook page.
Katz’s Reuben sandwich
Katz’s Delicatessen is famous for being the place in which Sally (of When Harry Met Sally fame) had her fake orgasm. You, however, won’t need no faking when you come here. OK, that sounds creepy. Let me rephrase that. This reuben sandwich is practically orgasmic. OK, that doesn’t sound any better. But with its hot mess of corned beef, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and sauerkraut on rye bread, you’ll be ordering up seconds before you’ve even finished your first round. God our mouths are watering at the very sight. We wish we were back in Katz’s stuffing this down our fat faces.
