We should have seen Hipster Santa coming, if we’re honest. With his scruffy beard and a penchant for travelling by sleigh (because planes are so 2014), Santa has already pretty much reached the echelons of peak hipster.
With this in mind, it’s hardly surprising that Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto have appointed their very own Hipster Santa. Swapping his traditional red suit for clothing from the centre’s high-end stores, the Hipster Santa poses up a storm in some sexual promotional snaps for the mall.
The Santa Hipster who’s setting hearts a flutter is actually grey-bearded model Paul Mason. (Check out some of his other fashion-forward fashion shoots here.) He’s been modelling for 30 years, and this is the second year he’s worked with Yorkdale Shopping Centre during the festive season. He’s drawn comparisons with hot celebs including Michael Fassbender, but we reckon his smile has got a bit of Hugh Hefner about it. In fact…has anyone seen Hugh Hefner around lately? Is this his new pulling technique?
Hipster Santa is coming to town
Mason will be making scheduled stops throughout December at the mall for lucky Toronto-dwellers. And for every selfie taken with the Hipster Santa (and shared with the hashtag #YorkdaleFashionSanta), the centre will be donating $1 to Sick Kids Foundation. See, this Santa may be trimmer than the pot-bellied Santa of old, but he still has a heart of gold.
A quick Twitter search of #YorkdaleFashionSanta shows that dozens have already taken up Yorkdale on their selfie challenge. And, um, they’re mainly women. OK, they’re 99.9% women. But we don’t see Mason complaining. In fact, just look at his cheeky little smile!

Unfortunately for Santa perverts all over the world, there will be no sitting on Hipster Santa’s lap. He’s way too fashion-forward to have a chair. But he does have his very own winter wonderland setup to add some festive flair to proceedings.
While this sexy santa is causing a bit of an online stir, Mason told the Toronto Star that he tries to stay away from kids at the mall. But it’s for one very simple reason: so they don’t confuse him with the traditional Santa Claus, who’s also available for photos at Yorkdale.
