Try Before You Ink With These Realistic Temporary Tattoos

 —  By

I’ve often considered getting myself a small tattoo. But I’m an absolute wuss when it comes to pain of any sort of magnitude. I don’t even have my ears pierced because that needle freaks me out. And, of course, the real issue is, just what would I have done? I could get one of my cat’s face but then my other cat would get jealous so I’d have to get a second tattoo done. I could honour my love of tea with a tattoo of a teabag but then guys might take that the wrong way. Basically, I’m ridiculously indecisive. And I just have terrible ideas.

And then I stumbled upon these incredible tattoos from Momentary Ink. They look like tattoos and can be customised to your preferred design – but they’re completely temporary and don’t require a painful sitting in the tattooist’s chair.

These realistic temporary tattoos are a gamechanger

OK, so before you think this is beginning to sound like one massive sales pitch, let me just clarify: it isn’t. But the idea that realistic temporary tattoos have come on this much since the crappy ones I used to pull out of my cereal boxes just blows my mind. (Seriously, I was once laughed out of a shop by some French guys at Disneyland ‘cos of my armful of Disney tattoos. Still not over it.) All you need to do is upload an image of the design you want, and the tattoos will be sent straight to your door. Once you’ve applied with some water and a brush, the tattoo will last for up to 10 days – plus it’s completely resistant to sweat and water.

So yeah, this is a bit of a game changer. First, people can get an idea of whether the design (or just tattoos in general) suits them. Secondly, people who don’t want to commit to a tattoo can still experiment with some ink. Looks like my luck has changed!

Realistic temporary tattoos design ideas that we would totally get

So, just what sort of designs could we experiment with on a temporary basis?

Netflix. Positioned over our heart.

Realistic temporary tattoos would probably look better than this...

Once upon a time people were all about getting ‘Mum’ tattoos over a pierced red heart. Now, we’re going to say it’s the turn of Netflix. I’d just get the a temporary tat of the Netflix logo to be positioned over my own heart. Because that’s where you belong, guys. That’s where you belong.

Realistic temporary tattoos: We could get wrinkles?

Ever wondered what you’ll look like in 50 years’ time? We could go super creepy and get tattoos of wrinkle lines to place all over our face (or ‘more’ wrinkle lines, if you’re me.) We could then just walk into work and convince our boss that we’ve been flat-out working all weekend and we’re seriously in need of a week off to recover.

Any random word

We seriously hope this is just one of the realistic temporary tattoos...

We’ve all seen people showing off tattoos of Chinese words that mean something like ‘blessed’ or ‘yolo’. But we often think – how do they really know that that’s what it means? Are they just taking someone’s word (lol, pun intended) for it? And then you have people that have English words like ‘value’ or ‘love’. They always get us thinking: just what is the story behind them? So yeah. We could totally just go with a realistic temporary tattoo of some completely random word like ‘Scrabble’ or ‘Laptop Stand’ on the backs of our neck. And then we’ll just watch the puzzled faces as people try to work out the real meaning behind it.
