Ah, Thanksgiving. A time to give thanks for everything we’ve forgotten to be grateful for over the last 12 months. And, if you’re a celebrity, it’s also time for you to showcase your caring side. Some like to share gushing messages on Twitter. Some like to share pictures on Instagram of their families. And then you have Snoop Dogg: this G decided to take things one step further by handing out more than 1,500 turkeys in Los Angeles. As you do.

Snoop Dogg (or Snoop Turkey, please let that become his new name) handed out the festive birds, paired with all the trimmings. He did so alongside Mayor James Butts (ha) to Inglewood-based families in need. We definitely uttered a “WTF” when we heard this news. I mean, it’s definitely something we could imagine the likes of Taylor Swift doing. Or even President Obama. But Snoop Dogg? Who knew he was such a kind creature?

But then it all got a bit weirder when we realised that it’s actually the second time the rapper has participated in the turkey event. Last year he took part after asking what he could do to give back to the Inglewood community. AKA where the HQ of his production crew is located.  Turns out that the event has grown exponentially over the last year. In 2014 Snoop Dogg and the Inglewood co. only gave out 800 turkeys. What slackers.

As well as passing out turkey gifts, Snoop Dogg also brightened up fans’ days by sticking around to take up-close-and-personal photos. In a speech to the waiting crowd, The Snoop said: “Inglewood has been good to me from day one and that’s why I love Inglewood. I just want to let y’all know that I’mma be doing this every year.”

What an actual babe. This Thanksgiving we’re definitely adding ‘Snoop Dogg’ to our list of things to be grateful for.
