Hipsters, fashionistas and those with pockets of cash to burn are gearing up for what’s billed to be Apple’s biggest launch in its history on Wednesday. With Apple remaining typically tight-lipped about what we can expect from the launch, the rumour mill has gone into speculative overdrive.
Here are a few of the products we think – and hope – will be announced in the new Apple launch.
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
If you’re thinking the rumoured new design of the iPhone 6s (above) doesn’t look too dissimilar from what’s already out there, you’d be right. With the iPhone having only just received a redesign, the latest model will most likely focus on internal updates, such as an updated processor, an upgraded camera, and a new ‘Force Touch’ pressure sensitive screen.
Other rumours abound that the handset will also be slightly bigger with a smaller battery and a faster chip, and will be available in a new rose gold colour option. Hardly anything that’s going to set the world alight, but it’s sure to get the seal of approval from Apple enthusiasts. The good news is that the phone could be released as soon as 18 September – so be sure to avoid all technology stores on this day if you’re wanting to escape with your life.
Up until now, Apple TV has failed to capture imaginations, but that could all change with their new plans to take over our living rooms. Excepted to retail at around £100, the new Apple TV model is likely to give Xbox and PlayStation a run for its money, allowing iOS games to be played on the big screen. Coupled with this, the redesigned controller will feature a touchpad with motion sensors and an integrated microphone to allow the box to be controlled by Siri.
But rumours are still suggesting that the Apple TV hasn’t completely forgotten its roots – it’s also supposed to be fitted with a universal search bar, telling users exactly where they can find programmes, whether it be on Netflix or iTunes.
With iPads dominating the tablet market, it’s only right that Apple look to expand and upgrade their existing models. During the new Apple launch, the company is expected to announce the launch of an iPad Pro, a larger version of the iPad for professionals, complete with its own stylus. The iPad Mini 4 is also expected, fitted with a thinner design, new cameras, a faster processor and split-screen mode.
Apple Watch Wrist Bands
Forget the Apple TV and the new iPad Pro – this is what everyone should be waiting with baited breath for. Who needs upgraded tech when you’ve got potential new colours for the bands of Apple Watches, a device owned by approximately ten people on the planet. Personally, I’m holding out for tie dye.
It’s a well-known fact that people will buy anything as long as it’s got the Apple logo on it, so we shouldn’t rubbish the idea of them bringing out something so ridiculous it might actually work. Forget the useful gadgets that people might use at work; slap that logo on a tea towel or two and watch them fly off the shelves.
With Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet already being tipped to lift an Oscar at next year’s ceremony for their roles in the new Steve Jobs biopic, maybe Apple will give the Academy a little nudge with some sponsored trophies during the new Apple launch?
